GS student dies after battle with cancer

Jennifer Perkins, a General Studies student who had enrolled last fall, died Saturday after battling cancer. She was 36.

GS Dean of Students Scott Halvorson announced Wednesday that Perkins passed away in Fresno, Calif. A memorial service will be held there on June 12.

"Whenever we lose someone within the Columbia community, we all feel it, whether or not we knew the person well," Halvorson wrote to the student body.

According to an obituary in the Fresno Bee, Perkins worked as an executive assistant.
